From his diverse roles as Marine Deputy to Undersheriff, Ginop’s leadership journey reflects his versatility and commitment to service, guided by Sheriff Timothy Cook and retired Sheriff Dale Clarmont.
As a staunch advocate for community-oriented policing, Ginop has spearheaded successful initiatives to bolster public safety and foster community trust. His pursuit of excellence is evident through accolades such as the Kirtland Regional Police Academy’s OPA program and the FBI’s LEEDA training, where he received the Trilogy Award.
A lifelong resident of Northern Michigan, Ginop’s deep ties to the community drive his dedication to service. With a decade of contributions to his family’s business and 17 years of marriage, he values family and community cohesion.

Certificate of Appreciation | December 14, 2011
While on routine patrol during the early morning hours, Josh could smell smoke. Upon further investigation, he found a house with smoke coming from it. Fortunately, no one was home at the time. Josh was able to call the Tuscarora Township Fire Department and save the residence.
Letter of Commendation| Spring 2012
Involved in an investigation involving two separate breaking and entering crime sprees in the Wolverine area, which resulted in six individuals being arrested on 55 felony counts.
Life Saving Medal | January 24, 2013
Executed a successful search and rescue operation for a missing person. Tracked a victim over 5 miles in deep snow and subfreezing temperatures for a 38 year old man that had become disoriented in the heavily wooded area and was extremely hypothermic.
Letter of Commendation| October of 2013
Made a traffic stop that resulted in a mobile meth lab investigation. Two individuals were arrested on eight felony counts.
Unit Citation from Michigan State Police | February 18, 2016
Participated in the investigation of a high-production indoor marijuana growing enterprise being maintained by a suspect with ties to interstate and international narcotics trafficking.

Awarded for exemplary demonstration of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of an effective police officer during the basic training program.
